Other than the reversal of #1 and #2, that's pretty much what I expected. I appreciate the effort though. I would have hoped at least that Amazon's conversion would have realized the need to convert them to images, but I guess not.

As I said in my opening post, I already know that this is not the ideal format for eReaders. Some of us have compelling other reasons to use .PDF, or are not given a choice, but still want to make the best of a less than ideal situation.

It doesn't seem that Amazon's conversion process works any better than the other solutions that already exist, which is really what I wanted to know. (No reason to switch to a kindle, anyway.)
