Conquest: Cortes, Montezuma, and the Fall of Old Mexico by Hugh Thomas has dropped to $6.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. Not a great price, but not horrible either for non-fiction, and for that you get a really long book

. More seriously, I read this in DTB on a vacation to Mexico many years ago, and really enjoyed it. In the US, at least, we tend to barely learn just the basics (Cortez came, he saw, he conquered), and it was nice to learn a lot more about that period of history. I find I don't remember quite as much of the history as I wish now, though, and I have another trip to Mexico coming up in the fall, so I may bite on this one...and it'll be easier to carry on my phone than the original book was
