The instructions in the manual solved the problem as I had tried that. There is evidently a glitch in the Kindle Paperwhite.
A strange situation is that I can again transfer a book from calibre that I previously had on the Kindle and it will not load unless I reconvert from azw3 to mobi or vice versa. Oh well, things have a way of clearing up on there own. The Kindle keyboard was a much more reliable e reader than the paperwhite.
