I'd agree with you if these things were consistent but they aren't. One book will let me change the spacing and the weight. The next book won't. Or it'll let me change one and not the other. And sometimes other features don't work. I've never been able to spot a pattern of any sort related to font, etc.

I convert these books from Amazon format using Calibre and I always use the same settings. I've experimented with those settings to see if I can find a way to make the features always work. Nothing helps.

My conclusion is that these are bugs. I'm a retired programmer with 35 years experience and I've written enough bugs into programs to consider myself an authority on bugs.

That said, it's still a very nice device. There's more than enough right about Kobos to make up for the bugs.
