I have no experience with library books. My purchased books are side-loaded via Calibre.
What I can report is that this firmware update also fixed the issue with the clock on the InkPad 3 (it would quickly go out of sync and lag behind). Power consumption also seems to be much lower now for me in sleep mode and appears equal or better than on my Kobo Glo, though that wasn't an issue anyone else had.
