It would be best if you could borrow Kobo and Kindle from a friend and try them out. Or if you live somewhere where you have Amazon, you can order Kindle and return easily if you don't like it.
Kindle has Oxford dictionary and others, all quality dictionaries for various languages. Highlights are easier to make and to export. So I use it for all my nonfiction reading.
Kobo with Comfortlight (I have Aura One) is really pleasant for reading at night in nearly completely dark room (my eyes are sensitive) and font selection is much better, plus you can add your own fonts. So I use Kobo to read fiction at night and I try not to use dictionaries (I have added custom dictionaries, but they are nothing compared to Kindle's).
If you could have both of the worlds, it would probably be perfect.
