I still don't know how a bad URL would land me at the homepage, instead of giving me the dreaded "Error 404," or some other error-advisement, webpage. But I guess that it doesn't matter now.

My theory (remember: I know almost nothing about the workings of computers or the Internet) was that somehow Amazon had my name/account(s) associated with my I.P. address or something, and they wouldn't allow me to go to the promo page because I was already a member (or had just canceled; I don't remember now).

I used to go to Slickdeals some, and people there do post some great deals. But I had my hands full just trying to check places that I had always been checking.
