Except for the part where they don't include—or at the very least provide a way for the user to easily acquire—the source code for the GPL'ed portions. And let's face it: for all practical purposes, including the source code (or making it readily available)
IS attribution. So in essence, adhering to the license DOES require attribution (since the source code in question contains the names, and/or
noms de plume of its creators).
