‘Soon’ has come and gone: given the near-certainty that many folks reported the issue to Amazon in the first days of the x.x.x.0 release, they could have delayed this x.x.x.1 release for a few days in order to include a fix for this.
That said, the extra refreshes don’t bother me so I am not one of these ‘many folks’. And the workaround is obvious: just wait for the time to change before you turn the page (I am kidding of course).
I have not had any performance issues on my Voyage or Kindle (8th gen).
As far as features-I-wish-Amazon-would-do, I would say mine are pretty esoteric:
- why not have Voyage/Oasis buttons function as scroll up/down in contexts like Notes, X-ray, Book descriptions on Kindle store, web browser, etc.?
- support external keyboard for navigation, hotkeys, text entry etc. (including Bluetooth keyboards for Kindles that support BT). This could also be justified as Accessibility feature (especially if they also supported connected Braille accessories for screen reader etc.)
