So, the use case of an MP3 player and a ebook reader are totally different. You don't "NEED" 40k ebooks on your reader at a time, to get good enjoyment out of it.
Would it be nice to have... sure. Will future gen devices make this more pratcical, I'm sure. Is it a reason to complain... obviously. Does it really make the device unuseable... certainly NOT.

Really? You can only read one book at a time? Can you walk and chew gum at the same time? I hop from book to book, sometimes I'll be reading a Horseclans novel then I decide to go see what's in my Pluto Press section, I read 60 to 100 pages, then I feel like some Noam Chomsky. It's about choice, not limitations. I agree that you don't *need* 40k books to enjoy the reader, but my enjoyment would be vastly increased if I didn't have to fight with my device to get it to do what I want. Why should future gen devices make this more practical, what's impractical about it now? Why should I have to buy a 3rd gen device to get it to do what my 1st gen device should do?
But that's ok. We've got the hardware and lots of screwdrivers, and patience and time. You guys go be content with your 200 books that you've never read, I'm going to be taking it to a different level. I emailed the developers of openinkpot to ask them to do what they can to have the reader read all the files, so hopefully that'll come soon.
