You can remove them apparently, but it's easier for films than for tv series. Go to settings > account > scroll to My Profile > viewing activity. There you can remove things. But for a series you have to remove all the episodes (of a season?) you've seen for it to disappear off the list.

It would be lovely to choose which things they don't have to show you (for me comedy, rom coms and Dutch shows) and things you're less interested in.
