Texans were deemed to be human (US Supreme Court ruling 1876) while there is no equivalent ruling concerning Californians. To a Californian the world ends at the state boarders, to a Texan ther is Texas and the colonies. Californians never raised a tax they didn't like, Texans never liked any taxes.
