And certainly some folks, like the TV and phone industry, do it differently, with contracts and ETF penalties in exchange for doling out their services monthly at a lower price.
As for who would spend all twelve credits at once? I guess anyone who wanted 12 books. I know TM is big into series, so I could see someone like him doing it. My wife happens to be waiting for upcoming releases, otherwise she would probably do it as well. As mentioned a above, the membership would then still give you the benefit of being able to buy discounted credits as needed, and would give you the same value as the credit-less Listener Light membership: lower prices and sale offers.
