Calibre has no automatic READ status/sync , mostly because there is no STANDARDS to develop to.
Use the devices IN BRAND sync when available.
Calibre Companion allows you to set READ, but note: This is NOT linked to the actual reader app. CC is an extension of Calibre Library not the other parts
