I didn't say anything about being "unreasonable," I was just making a guess on how this bug got through testing without being noticed. The 4.8.x update definitely did screw up ePub reading on my Kobo Touch – and these errors were the same as described by several others here. I'm pretty sure it was a font issue, otherwise the patches I applied (a few of them dealing with fonts) wouldn't have fixed my Touch (which is now working fine with 4.8.x). Maybe specific fonts triggered the bug. I don't know enough to know why, I just know what was.
