Btw, I can confirm that I did have this happen with the newest (4.7.10413) firmware, so I wouldn't go nuclear on it just yet.
I had it happen the day I got the ereader (KA1), and it was happening with articles that might have not been fully downloaded, when I tried to turn to the 2nd page, so initially dismissed it. But then I had it happen once more about 2 weeks later (I don't read pocket that much so it might happen more if I used it more), although this time it was in a different situation. I had been reading an article was on page 5 of 8, got up to look at something, then just as I returned before I could pick up my ereader, I watched as it rebooted.
I did a factory reset at that point and immediately updated from 4.4.9439 to 4.7.10413. It hasn't happened again, in the two weeks since the reset, but as I say, I don't read pocket enough to say it definitely won't happen again. But you've already tried a reset iirc.
It has never rebooted at any other time, so I think a pocket bug is the problem.
