I started on this series, and thought it might be interesting. Then realized that it appears that
every book has some sort of alternative religion/spiritual hook. It put me off this first book, and knowing that later ones would likely have the same problem made me return my KU versions. Just really not my thing. As a one-time plot device, I can power through it. But not knowing it's coming every time. And beyond that, I didn't think Holy Island was all that good. OK, but not great.
