FTR I've been launching Sigil from calibre on Windows for years, both with the 'old' Open With plugin and more recently with the built-in Open With feature.

I had an occasional problem with the plugin, but it wasn't limited to launching other Qt based programs, when the problem struck it affected everything - Word, Avidemux, Sigil, Audacity, Balabolka etc; my solution was to nuke the PI and its settings, install and configure. I can't recall having any problems with calibre's built-in Open With; I switched to it very soon after it was released.
