A few other thing come to mind:
1. Macs clear out the temp file system after 48 hours. If you opened an ebook with Sigil and kept it open (while sleeping) or working, your Mac may have deleted files in temp out from under Sigil causing the crash. You can set a new private temp path using Sigil's Preferences to prevent this from happening.
2. Sometimes the main Sigil settings file gets corrupted and that can cause crashing as well. Please try renaming your sigil.ini file to something else and then restarting Sigil so it will create a correct default settings file.
3. Make sure you are not trying to launch Sigil from within another Qt application, like Calibre as it can cause Qt version conflicts with Qt plugins that can cause crashes.
4. Make sure you are not manipulating any of the files in Sigil's temp storage in any way outside of Sigil. Messing with an app's temp files is a sure way to cause crashes.
