[QUOTE] Baloney on the old case fitting the new HD10, I have both and the new model is a bit thicker. ...

yep, i was almost able to force a 2016 case onto my 2017 tablet , but it would not close properly - there was a constant risk of the tablet springing out of the case and getting damaged. & the auto sleep did not work.
so I gave in and bought the 2017 case, which is excellent , as I said before.

yes its a tad annoying the you need to spend 20%+ of the (black Friday) price of the tablet on a matching case, but having done that, I have no regrets.

combined cost of a black friday tablet deal & a sale price case was < £130 UKP for me.
and the video playback/ book reading quality is good enough to relegate my previous 8.9" HDX to being a backup ( i use that only if I need to take a picture, nowadays, as the HD10 camera is allegedly rubbish)

PS , when the new tablet turns up I strongly recommend googling how to install the google play store and then the google play versions of most free apps ( which are more up to date then the amazon versions ). All my news and sports news apps are the google ones, plus I install Chrome to use instead of Silk, "real" you tube and a few more specialised apps that simply are not available from amazon. Takes only about 10 mins to find, download , sideload, install the needed components, no root needed.
Yet more googling will eventually find you a side-loadable 1080p version of Netflix ( hacked only for HD playback, not for pirating) so that you can get 1080p videos via your netflix subscription instead of the 720p which is all the amzon version allows - and on that 10 inch screen you CAN see the difference. Amazon prime videos are full hd 1080p though so no need ot mess with that.
