How to run a real terminal emulator inside the Kobo?

I use both Konsole (from pbchess) and Kbterminal (from Kobo Start Menu). Both have their flaws and strenghts.

But it seems like they don't talk directly with the framebuffer. And it is impossible to run apps like vim, nano, or anything that has an interface. When I execute vim, for example, I get a bunch of weird characters as the output.

Kindle users can do it. Is there any real terminal emulator available for Kobos?
