I think they just tried to slap it up to quick, the new list that is.
I haven't read any Jenkins myself either. I did read the first in the HR of Alyssa Cole and I liked it, but it would not be in a top 100 list if I made one. And to be honest I have/had no idea that the author is a AOC. With some I know because I have seen their pictures somewhere, or have seen them speak, but I don't search out authors on a personal level and I don't do facebook.
I just read what I want and I usually go with the theme I like to read. Jenkins I haven't read mostly because I don't know where to start. But I have that issue with other authors that have a large backlist out. Do I start at the beginning or do I start with their latest one.
But at this point, I just don't see how they can make anyone happy. If they don't read a lot of books by non whites, well then they don't. Its not like they can just change that overnight. So let the readers put up their choices and go from there. That way they are taking themselves out of it. That is how they used to do it anyway.

Start with her Forbidden series. It seems to be most popular. They did add it to list. It's been edited again. The list looks more balance but still almost all historical. I bought her Destiny series because it looks less than just westerns because I prefer regency romances most. You might want to start there instead.
I didn't use to seek out if an author is aoc but the book club I'm in promotes them so that's how I found Beverly Jenkins. I'm changing for the better. I now know they do not get the promotion from publishers like they should so yes I'm seeking them out because you'll miss alot otherwise. I usually just go with what Avon releases but last year my eyes were opened when Alyssa Cole books came out and we had a discussion. I start seeing who I can find and added several to my the list now I just need find time to read them all. You will find several on KU as well.
Agreed AAR needs to go back with the old method.
