Wow that was fast coming up with the new list. I haven't looked at it yet. Did they just slap some new names on there? Like quickly going through the last couple of years and filling some quotas? That isn't really the point of inclusion is it. Maybe they need to increase the blogger base they have so they have more voices to begin with?
Would it be better to just let folks name 100 as they did in the past rather than making a pre-list? I have no idea. I can never vote on that poll as I cannot rate the books I read. I just can't do it. I can't even pick 100 from a list. I'd waffle about it for years.
Oh well. At least I usually know a few names on their poll. Every time the goodreads reader poll comes up I go huh? I tend to not read whats currently popular in romance it seems. That's ok though. There is a lot to pick from.
Its why I hated when they eliminated the infinite top best selling lists on amazon. Now you can only see the top 100. But there was a time years ago you could just go down and down. And I would love to go to the 500-1000 best selling stuff in subgenres and find a lot of cool stuff that way. Now its just popularity lists, which is not at all the same thing of course.
Somehow this seems to take the fun out of that poll, doesn't it. Not that having to pick 100 favorite books out of ones list is fun
eta: oh dear. Looking at twitter they seemed to have misspelled a lot of the new names they added. I guess they tried to rush it out for the backlash they got. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if they scrap the whole thing. They can't win anymore now based on what I see on twitter.
