I doubt it. The list tends to skew very much toward historical. And most of the 50 books on their initial list were historical.

I am the opposite as I read very little historical nowadays. I am more contemporary, romantic suspense, futuristic, paranormal, and scifi.

I think limiting people to only 5 of their own choices will skew the results much more than having people submit 100 books. The poll tends to lean heavily on the previous polls because when people try to come up with 100 titles they often look at the previous poll to see which ones there they also liked. So it's always a combination of previous polls and whatever the current hot new reads are. At least that's the way it's gone the last few times. I only voted in the 2010 and 2013 polls and very, very few of the books I voted for made the final list.

I've kept the list I made back when I first voted and have updated it every few years since. But I suspect I am in the minority. Mostly I do it because my memory isn't what it used to be and I know coming up with my initial list of 100 books was hard! Having Calibre makes it a bit easier. But one year I reread a bunch of books that had been on my initial list in 2010 and many didn't live up to my memory (I started reading romance in the mid-80s, so there were a lot of older books on my initial list). Some books I still love because of the nostalgia factor, but I know my list of current top 100 changed considerably from the first one I made.
