Hello there, I'm selling these fine leather jackets...
Hi, my name's Chris and my wife and I are ebook-junkies since I bought an defective Kindle Paperwhite 2 (2GB) for ~10$.
With another defective PW2 (4GB) I managed to replace the faulty logic-board and got an (to that time most actual Kindle) for ~20$.
The plan was to sell the device for a good price, but when I gave it to my wife to test if everything is perfect, it was "lost".
She bought some ebooks from a local online-store which the PW couldn't handle. Since they weren't drm-protected, I found Calibre to convert them and uploaded them via cable to the PW.
Now, that I got my own device, the idea came to setup a server running Calibre and manage our purchases. That's still beta, and much trial and error. The server is an Fujitsu Futro S550-2 running on some Windows 7 Embedded OS (since there was an empty 1gb-CF in it, I needed an OS and found that Win7 for free on the Fujitsu homepage after I put the serial# from my Futro there. Now it has an 16gb CF-card as "harddisk". It's a fanless device and it's very fast (1GHz AMD-CPU, 2gb RAM). The CF should last a while, since we don't buy ebooks every week.
I hope to find solutions here for eventually upcoming problems, beside the one I already have... I'd love to share my experiences in the setup-process as well (if someone's interested), and try to help others, too.
