Your code of modification is ok. Since you have gone this far, you should be able to build your own ipdf with official SDK in some simple steps. There are instructions in the forum.
If you don't have a native Linux environment, try CoLinux. I think it's quite easy to compile a ipdf for iLiad with CoLinux+iRex SDK under MS Windows.
