I preferred Jon Gruber's take: https://daringfireball.net/2018/01/iphone_x_one_year It's less sensational.

Although the iPhone 8 models may have cannibalized sales for the X, rumors of Apple pulling the X off the shelves are farfetched. If the X is too expensive to produce, Apple will take its tech and roll it into the iPhone 9, or whatever else they have planned for the Fall. Also, interest in the X is still high. Just today this article came out: https://www.verdict.co.uk/peoples-lo...ired-phone-uk/.

Personally, I'm more interested in them stabilizing iOS 11 than in focusing on shiny new models.
