seems to the same my problem.
I would like to add (and then convert for Kindle Voyage) a book bought by iBooks Store (Mac).

calibre, version 3.20.0

In this case the extension is .ibooks but the same is with the .epub

There is not problem to read this book with iBooks.
Seems that that calibre want to add the conversion in the same file!
