It's a zombie thriller. The gist of the series is that an anti-cancer virus combines with a flu virus (or something like that) some time around now, and basically everyone in the world is infected, but as long as your viral load stays low enough, you don't turn into a crazed zombie. However, if you get bitten by a zombie, your viral load goes through the roof, and you turn into a zombie too. Twenty years into the future, we still don't have a cure or vaccine, most people live in enclaves, and (video) podcasters are are a really big thing, and these stories are about adopted brother and sister podcasters.

It's probably included as horror because it's zombie fiction, but it's really done as straight science fiction with a dollop of conspiracy thriller.
