That's true in some cases, but in others you might get a better deal with Amazon (units are very early generation, the functionality is questionable, etc.)
I had one of my Fires that had a power issue and would likely have been marked as a misrepresented product if I tried to sell it on EBay as functional or I'd get a rock bottom price if I posted it as non-functioning. Amazon got it, verified it in working order, and my gift card's in my account now. Not a bad deal considering it was just laying in my closet collecting dust.
(Still waiting on my Kindle to be verified and paid out.)
