BBCodeExtra is a Firefox extension. It doesn't work on recent Firefox, another victim of Mozilla's Quantum leap diktat.

Phrase Express and Clipboard Fusion are Windows utilities that, amongst other things, allow you to create a set of common paste items. I assume similar things are available for MacOS and Linux.

Added: BBCodeXtra, Clipboard Fusion, and Phrase Express provide the means to store text with a comprehensible name. So, to paste my Good Luck smiley, I hit the menu key, select BBXtra's Custom Tags option, and then select the item 'goodluck'.
