Only here to correct a piece of information. GoodEreader is not placing orders with Onyx. Onyx and Sony have their their e-readers build by E-Ink. Onyx has specialists working on the software and design of their products, but it does not produce the hardware itself. Sony, as a big powerful corporation with a lot of know-how, also participates in the hardware development together with E-Ink, but does not produce its e-readers either by itself.

On the other hand GoodEreader is placing orders at Netronix, a competitor of E-Ink. However, Netronix is technologically and financially behind E-Ink and I suspect they have difficulties sustaining the production of the GoodEreader device because they cannot sell enough of them. Things are more complicated for them because GoodEreader lacks the means to employ software engineers to further develop the product.

Onyx itself had very difficult years behind, being saved at the last minute by generous governmental orders for Onyx Boox Max and Max Carta. Add the Chinese market to that.

In my opinion, the value of Onyx and GoodEreader is that they literally rescued the 13.3 e-readers by investing at a time when all the big corporations like Amazon, Sony or Rakuten (Kobo) lost faith in this category of devices and stopped any funding.

You are right though, the way Good-Ereader is handling the situation is catastrophic and their PR is zero. Often they seem to disregard their clients and it is a mystery to me how people still place orders with them.
