You already mentioned doing Polish books so I assume there's just something in the latter's format that Marvin doesn't like.

Try installing the Modify ePub plugin and see if that helps clean up opf metadata. Try it with the Remove non dc: metadata elements option enabled. Iirc, Marvin doesn't know what to do with all of Calibre's extra metadata entries anyway. Only Title, Author, Publisher, Subject, and Date Published are relevant.
