Finished the Sherlock Holmes Omnibus.
(phew, this is a lot of reading. I started back in November with HOTB for the book club, then continued on to finish them all.)
There are nine books in the collection. 4 are full length books, of which two are very similar, The Sign of the Four and The Valley of Fear. The Hound of the Baskervilles was certainly the best of the lot.
It also seemed to be that the stories in The Case-Book were very weak. Conan Doyle's forward seemed to point to the fact that he was writing this more to appease his fans than anything else.
The short stories seemed to vary in quality to me. Some were very good, some seemed contrived. The themes got very popular too.
The main issue I have with all of the stories were that some information is hidden from the reader. Also, many of the solutions are due to Holmes knowing the criminal from his description due to other cases (not published) that he worked on. The makes it hard for the reader to try to solve the mystery. Then again, there were a few that I knew exactally the answer... mostly from learning the forumla the Conan Doyle used.

Started Free Range Chickens.. a humor book just to take a break. So far, Meh. A few chuckles so far but not riproaring funny. Also, some seem quite contrived.
