Sorry, but "Save to disk" and "Send to device" do not have to be updating the metadata on save/send. In fact, it's best to find those options and turn them off. There are better ways to uprate the metadata. If the eBook is an ePub, you can use Calibre's Polish books or the Modify ePub plugin to do the metadata updating without any conversion. If the eBook is KF8 (AZW3) then Polish books will do.

Do you always want the metadata updated when it's correct? I don't. I find if it's incorrect, I'll use the Calibre editor to fix the metadata.
