I've got Drinkwell fountains for my cats as well. Not the Platinum ones, just the original version, but with huge reservoirs on them. There are four in the house. They need to be cleaned once a week, and that includes dismantling
them to clean out the motor. The hard part (for me) is getting the motor out of the housing in the base. It really requires both hands.
I'm going to try my very best to try to get some tiny bit of work done today. There are, I hope, I few things I can do where being impaired won't be so much of a problem.

yep - those motors are very fiddly - i carefully use a knife .....
