I've enjoyed the two Andrea Cort novels I can get my hands on (and still hold out hope that the third is someday published as an ebook in English). I'd not seen this story mentioned in conjunction with Andrea Cort before. In investigating it, I found this timeline/reference for the various Andrea Cort stories and novels that is most helpful!
