I disagree. I would say realistic based on past experience.
However there might be some pessimism mixed in.
But that is no bad thing as at least you will be prepared for the worst and delighted if it does not occur.
As for being a hoarder, so am I. I have more books than I can read before I "pop my clogs" (die).
