Anybody, even a non-member of either the forum or the wiki can put things in the wiki.
I suggest that you pull up the history of the page where you read that, see who (if a person and not an anonymous ip) and get that confirmed.
Unless of course you want to start paying for the replacement of devices bricked on your advice.
