After installing the correct image, the kobo glo hd appears to be booting.
At least after pushing the on/off button for a second the red led switches on
and flashes eight times and the display 'backlight' switches on. And that's it.
The display remains in the 'sleep' state,
so now I am assuming a display problem. Maybe it is time to go shopping
for another kobo. I was reading Ruth Rendell's "End in tears" so that seems
a fitting end...
