I suppose trackers with GPS can get a more-or-less reasonable take on distance. I've got the Fitbit Zip, which is really only good for counting steps (which is all I require of it); I turned off the mileage readout, which is silly and pointless. Steps around the house, say, are a lot shorter than my long strides when I go out for a walk in my neighborhood and those are shorter than when I go for a hike in the woods where the footing is more treacherous. I'd be interested to hear if your mileage varies with the type of walking you're doing. It's obvious mine is just a rough approximation of stride length relative to my height.

finally back down to my pre-Christmas weight; that took much longer than it should, as it was only about three pounds. I'd like to lose about six more; I've got my sights set on Memorial Day.
