Quite right Jon: to clarify, I meant newish, allowing for the 12 month rule of course, but someone relatively new to being a published author. You know, an author where you read a story of bidding wars for an unpublished manuscript by an unknown author, which indeed turns out to be very successful.
One example which comes to my mind is an Australian author called Hannah Kent, whose first book a few years ago, called
Burial Rites stirred up a lot of excitement, and she has I think just published her third novel.
