If this is not possible, can I put a screen protector on it without compromising the writing experience? If so what screen protector should I get?

I had both Max Carta and now own Max2 and none of them scratch easily, even while pressing heavy when writing/annotating. If you managed to scratch the screen, you must have had applied a ton of weight or used some sharp object...
The questions 2 and 3 were answered by Jayjee.

On Mac (High Sierra OS) you have to install the official Android File Transfer software (
https://www.android.com/filetransfer/) in order to access the Max 2 via USB.
After reporting the same problem to Apple and Onyx this is what they answered:
Apple says it has to do something with the Onyx driver for their OS;
Onyx says they used the default drivers from Sierra and in the past they have worked (that's true - my iMac did recognise the Max Carta device, but the latter had Android 4.0.1, while Max2 has Android 6.0.1).
In the end it seems Onyx has no solution, and Apple tries to pass the problem to Onyx. I don't know who is right, but you could make pressure on both of them. I will do the same.

You should contact Booxtor over his website or write to Onyx International. What you wish for is a new function they could introduce in a future update.
