Nope, a reset is required.
The "jail break" is only a single, 256 byte, file that is only referenced when an update_*.bin package is loaded.
Everything else is in user storage and only runs as part of the re-boot procedure, so none of it can be the cause of your problems.
So your problems are from some other cause.
I don't have any of the KOA2 updates loaded, so I can't even begin to guess where your problems are coming from.
Is this your first Kindle?
There are some display options that are not clearly labeled and have changed their behavior from version to version.
If you have any of the older touch screen Kindles, try the same things on them, with the same firmware versions, see if they act differently.
You need to wait for some of the KOA2 owners to speak up.
Mine is still "same as shipped" - for obvious testing of all the new stuff without access to a serial port on it.
