IIRC, it depends on the firmware version being run.
A search of the posts here should find some mention of "inverted landscape".

In addition to what you have already mentioned, the cases usually only have a singe corner with a magnet for the "on/off by open/close" of the case.

You may be faced with having to return that case to the seller in exchange for one that is properly designed for the purposes sold.
