No I do not see it that way. That is why I asked you to explain. I would put it:-
"Lovecraft was a racist."
"Lots of people were racist back then."
"Unfortunate but true. I must recognize and remember this so that I can oppose injustice (not just racism}
here and
NOW"
Granted the power I bring to bear is on a nano scale and very limited.
