However, I have an issue and it would help me immensely if you could tell me if it's the same in your setup: when I change stuff in the Storage app on the Max 2, such as creatg a new folder, it doesn't show up in the Android File Transfer application unless I reboot the Max 2. Do you see the same phenomenon? FWIF, changes in Android File Transfer show up immediately on the Max 2. Thanks!

Thank you for the solution, that's great! Before you answered I was beginning to feel like being alone in the Universe with the particular problem. ;-)
After a discussion with Apple representatives and trying to solve the problem together, they concluded there must be a driver compatibility issue between Max2 and iMacs. Different Apple devices including different Macs computers have different OSs. There is the possibility that Onyx did test the drivers only for few Apple computer types, letting others aside like the desktop iMac and possible some laptop models. Therefore today I wrote Onyx about it and as soon as I get word from them, I will write you.
As for the the Android File Transfer app, my experience was different. Yesterday, after installing the app, I did get some error messages when trying to create a new folder on Max2 or when copy pasting pdf documents. However, there wasn't necessary to reboot the e-reader. The second attempt to do the said operations worked well. Today I did try again to make folders and move documents on Max2 via the Android app and got no more errors. It went normally.
