The one group of books I always buy every month is the Baen monthly bundle. I've been buying this every month since it started in 1999 (I think it was then), and it's introduced me to some wonderful authors who I'd probably never have otherwise come across.

Other than that, these days I generally confine my purchases to "Kindle Daily Deals" which appeal to me, with the very occasional book that I notice which particularly appeals. Eg, I pre-ordered the new Penguin Classics edition of Hesiod's "Works and Days" (which I received this morning), because of my specific interest in the book.

In terms of reading, I often alternate between reading from my TBR list, and re-reading old favourites, or catching up with my Baen back-list.
