Not all the ways you can adopt, not necessarily.
Even rooting was not something that we should have done.
Simply,
the device should have allowed tethering. But that setting is empty, unavailable. I create USB networking with other devices, and I would never dream to root them.
See also the USB On-The-Go problem (very relevant to the lack of Micro-SD). With root, you may fix it.
Onyx should fix all lacks, or permit users to patch it. This root protection was a mistake, since they do not have the full ability to provide all the services. But the situation is still fluid.
