Maybe that's your problem - stop indexing everything but your personal data, i.e. Documents, Videos, Music, Pictures, and similar folders you created, but not Appdata or any of the folder junctions Windows sprinkles into your user directory.

I don't ever remember searching for start menu items. I would just head for Program files
